Fortune's Fool is a fantastical, fairy tale style novel that is more romance than anything else with a fair bit of adventure thrown in. Katya, the story's main character, is a mermaid who can go on land. She acts as the eyes and ears for her father, who is the kind of the underwater lands. Topside, she meets a prince who becomes her love interest. In the process, she is taken captive by an evil Jinn. The book had some good parts, but was weak at other parts. There were sections that were captivating and others that made me want to skim forward. All in all, it wasn't a bad read, it just wasn't exceptional in any way.
